Dr. Ken Best Chiropractor appeared on The Doctors Show for his expertise in kinesiology.
The show talked about the TicTock chair challenge that went viral, and Dr. Best spoke to why women were better at it than men. Dr. Best also demonstrated how to stretch and activate the gluts and hamstrings, which can become tight and weak from sitting.
How do gluteus muscles and hamstrings become weak?
They can become deafferented from sitting frequently for long periods of time. We need to get up, move and stretch to activate these muscles, which become short and weak from sitting.
In the video – do ‘Downward Facing Dog’ and breathe while moving into ‘Upward Facing Dog’ and then move back to the first position as you breathe out. Don’t hold the pose, keeping moving with your breath. Do 11 repetitions twice a day for the best results to combat the pattern of sitting all day 🙂
It’s only 11 breaths so it doesn’t take that long. Stop before the point of pain in either direction and find out from your healthcare provider/trainer/physical therapist, if it’s right for you.
